She seeketh wool and flax and worketh willingly with her hands. --Proverbs 31:13

I have only one picture to post today. I cut my thumb on Monday while slicing bread, so didn't get to do much fiber stuff this week. It felt like I was knitting with barbed wire.

I did get this pair of baby socks done though, as a warm up for Fair Isle knitting, and as the first project that I have done for Afghans for Afghans.

I have been watching Tracy make all kind of lovely things for the Preemie Project for a long time. I wanted to do some kind of knitting for others, but I want to use the wool yarn I have on hand. Afghans for Afghans allows me to do that, plus, I don't have to use a lot of pastels, since they need socks, hats, mittens, etc for older children and women as well as for babies. I figure I can use these little projects as guage swatches, try out stitch patterns, etc, and do some good while I am knitting.

As for blessings this week...

1. Sean got two scholarships last Saturday! Not big scholarships, but every little bit helps, and we are so thankful. He made straight A's again this semester, and I am just so proud of him!

2. I got a second spinning wheel so that the kids could learn to spin! It is the wheel I learned to spin on, and my friend let me make payments on it. It's here now, paid off, and Reagan at least is pretty excited about it.

3. We are getting some drier wheather, and while I hope we still get periods of rain, it will be good for the garden to dry out a little bit. My Irises bloomed finally, and things just look so clean and grean and crisp outside. Spring is really the only season I like in Oklahoma. The summer is too hot, the winter isn't cold enough. Spring is so beautiful here though. I hope it lasts a long time.

Happy Mothers Day!

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Proverbs 31:28-30

Oh, I LOVE those little socks! Please join us in knitting for the babies! No, you can't use wool, but you don't have to use pastel colors. Bright colors are fine. Trust me, the hospitals & parents are grateful for anything.

Wonderful that Sean got those two scholarships. I bet he was happy about that!

Those are the cutest baby socks! Love the use of color. I know they will be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on the scholarships! I with you--every little bit helps. We are also in the scholarhip mode at our house since our son will be starting college in the fall.
