She seeketh wool and flax and worketh willingly with her hands. --Proverbs 31:13

We found a "new to us" used bookstore in town a couple of days before Christmas. I love used bookstores. I asked the owner if she had any knitting books and she said some one had been in a few days before and cleaned her out. Disapointing, but I decided to go ahead and look around anyway. Just a few minutes of searching turned up a copy of Traditional Knitting: Patterns of Ireland, Scotland and England. Lots of Arans and Guernseys, a few Fair Isle patterns. I didn't find anything else in the craft section, but did find some children's books. DH went to check out, and I was just walking along looking at stuff. That's when I found it..Irish Knitting by Rohana Darlington. It was with the books on Ireland! So I got that too. Turns out she was asking much less for it than they are asking for it online. I have found it online priced as high as $130. It does have some beautiful patterns in it.

I also recieved some money from the inlaws for Christmas, and from my sister. So I ordered some books; 220 Aran Stitches and Patterns by Harmony Guides, Traditional Fair Isle Knitting by Sheila McGregor, and Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch. Unfortunately they won't be here until sometime in the middle of January. I also ordered a bunch more dyes.

Work continues on the cabled sweater. I am just at the part where I decrease for the armholes on the back. I have ten more inches to knit after that. Hopefully I will get more done now that the kids all have mittens and hats, and I can just work on it.

You've made good progress on the sweater. I love how the cables look.

How lovely your work looks! I love old book stores - I get into SO much trouble when I go in them. I also found that the one near us lacks in the knitting area but I did find one keeper last summer. It has several sweaters and projects I'd like to try.

Oh I love this sweater - and how lucky for you to find the knitting books! Where is the pattern from for this sweater? I don't remember you saying.
