She seeketh wool and flax and worketh willingly with her hands. --Proverbs 31:13

I haven't had much to blog about lately. I have been working on the feathers and fan shawl, but I only have enough time to do a few rows everyday. These are short rows too. It is coming along, and it is nice relaxing knitting, but I just don't work on it as much as I should. Here is what it looks like now. Not much change from before.

I've also been doing some spinning, on the chocolate brown alpaca. I have decided to spin it laceweight, in the hopes of making a smoke ring out of it, if I have enough of the fiber for the yardage I would need. If not, I figure it will make a nice scarf. It is so nice to work with, it just slips right threw your fingers and into this nice consitant single. I love working with it and will be sad when I am through the amount I have. With all that though, I still started another project. I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday to pick up a couple of larger circular needles (an 11 and a 13, for knitting projects to ....gasp...felt!) and found this yarn. As you can see, I swatched and then cast on for socks.

I got gauge the first time, and after hand washing and air drying, the gauge was the same, so I cast on for the Rib and Cable Socks from the fall 2005 Interweave Knits. I love the color of this yarn, it is a cotton/wool blend, and I think I will get more use out of that in the weather in this state than all wool/nylon. I guess we will see. I was worried that the fabric would be stiff and uncomfortable, rope like, but that isn't the case at all. The real test will be the finished project though.

Last but not least, today was my sons birthday. He wanted a cake shaped like a car, but that was just beyond my abilities this week, haha. So he got a race track cake instead. I think it turned out kind of nice, and he loved it, which is all that matters to me. Happy Birthday, Ryan, I love ya, son.
