Fun with Friends
Yesterday was the spinning guild meeting for November. We had so much fun! Ten people showed up, and we had more than enough wheels. Margaret brought her friends, and they brought tons of fiber, books and other goodies. I brought home a half a pound of the most beautiful hand dyed top, and Margaret brought me some Teeswater to play with. It was great to be able to ask questions and have people understand why you just want to load it all up and take it home. Margie was there too, and she loved my wheel. I knew she would. There were lots of fabulous yarns spun there yesterday. I know I am going to be able to learn so much there. One wonderful lady from Mississpi(!)was spinning some gorgeous silk top. Even the beginners made some wonderful yarn. Of course, I didn't get any pictures, because I was too busy spinning!
These are two skeins of yarn I did yesterday. The magenta I spun at the meeting, and it is an 80/20 Merino/silk mix. I have 51 yards of singles, and they are probably lace or cobweb weight. The blue is the two-plyed yarn from the singles I showed Friday night. I have to spin more of that. While it was on the bobbin, I was a little doubtful about how it was oging to turn out. But plyed, it looks like morning clouds, a beautiful blue with glints of pink and purple. It would make such a wonderful shawl, but I am not going to have enough for that. I will be glad if I can get enough to knit a lacy, drapey scarf.
And then I did something with my best friends of all. Sean, the Kids and I went to see The Incredibles. What a fun movie! Good for the whole family. If you have any interest in sheep and fiber, you will love the little short at the beginning of the movie, which is about a little sheep who gets sheared. It is just cute, cute, cute.
