She seeketh wool and flax and worketh willingly with her hands. --Proverbs 31:13

Busy, Busy, Busy...

Things have been hectic here since Friday. My two youngest somehow found a patch of poison ivy in January, and I had to take them to the doctor for a shot to ehlp clear it up. Reagan is very allergic, not only to poison ivy, but to any over the counter med to treat it. I think we caught it early enough this time that she won't be completely covered with it. Ryan had it all over his legs and in his hair, on his face creeping towards his eyes. I just hate that. Something is going to have to be done, but I don't know what.

So Friday was a dye day. I dyed a whole bunch of rovings for the Fair Isle project, but nothing struck the way I expected it too. I didn't have enough vinegar for the dye bath and the dyes just didn't strike well. So on the way home from the doctors office, I bought more vinegar and some citric acid, and redyed almost all of it. The citric acid really makes dye strike well, but it also made the rovings very harsh to the touch. After soaking them again in some water with some hair conditioner added, they are now ready to spin I think.

This purple roving is for a "special project".
You know who you are.

This roving was dyed using the turquoise and terra cotta dyes. I really like the way it turned out, and will spin it kind of chunky so it looks like there are turquoise beads where the bumps from plying are. No specific project for this, I just thought it was pretty.

I finished spinning some of the roving for Fair Isle on Monday. I think my spinning is getting finer as I become used to spinning a thinner single again, and I am really going to have to watch that. The newest is the darker purple. I like this color, but it may be too stripey for the Fair Isle project. I am going to have to knit a sample and see.

I was up late again last night, unable to sleep. My mom is kind of like that, up at different times of the night. I don't mind it really, it gives me some quiet time by myself, with no demands. I usually end up reading my Bible, and last night instead of the New Testament I ended up in Numbers. This verse really jumped out at me.

And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have showed among them?
--Numbers 14:11

I have to say, He was talking to me. I know He promises He is going to take care of me, but sometimes it is hard to believe it. Instead of waiting for Him to deliver whatever it is that is needed at the moment, I start trying to make the things I want to happen, happen. I wonder how much time I have wasted, how many times I have screwed up His plan doing that. I don't want to get in His way anymore.

"You mean," said Lucy rather faintly, "that it would have turned out all right--somehow? But how? Please, Aslan! Am I not to know?"
"To know what would have happened, child?" said Aslan. "No, Nobody is ever told that."
--Prince Caspian

I'm praying that I never again have to wonder what might have happened if I had done things His way, instead of my way.

Beautiful rovings. Beautiful yarn. I'm looking forward to your Fair Isle project. What will it be - a sweater?

Those colours look stunning! I especially love the purples...my fav colour.

My mom has been waking up at odd hours lately and can't get back to sleep. Me, I'm just a naturally born night owl trying to reacustom myself to having to go to bed at a decent hour again for school lol.

As for the not waiting for His timing for things, I think we all get like that at one time or another...I know I do. I need to learn to wait on His timing better.

I hope your children aren't suffering too much from the poison ivy...sounds bad.

You've probably said before, but I was wondering how long you've been spinning? Your yarn always turns out so pretty.

I've been enjoying the Bible verses and thoughts you have been sharing.

Shelly, it has been one of my favorite colors as well, although I am trying to break out of it. WHen everything you buy seems to be that purple/green combination, you know you need to break out, LOL.

Thanks for commenting, I really appreciate it.
