She seeketh wool and flax and worketh willingly with her hands. --Proverbs 31:13

No new knitting pictures today. I am almost done with the rectangular center for my stole. I had to kick myself last night when I sat down to figure out the math for picking up the borders. Maybe I should have done that before I started the project. Anyway, I thought I would put in this picture of the hat and mittens I made for myself about a year and a half ago. I love these things, but it is almost never cold enough here in OK to wear them. I think I have worn them three or four times. The hat was a free pattern, and the mittens, I did myself, using the motif from the hat and charting the contrast band and top from Charted Celtic Designs. They were knit out of Shetland Spindrift. These were my first two color knitting, and I loved it. If it ever cools down here, then I will get back to Seans mittens.

Beautiful! And these were your first attempt at color knitting? You should take a trip somewhere cold in the winter just so you can wear them and show them off.

They were my first attempt. I loved it. I would love to do Fair Isle sweaters and cardigans, but I don't think it will ever get cold enough here to wear any of those things. I guess I could make them for my relatives in WV...

If you decide to take a stab Fair Isle or color knitting, I can not recommend Anne at She Ewe Knits enough. She was a wonderful help, helping me to figure out how to get started and what colors to buy.

I think a Fair Isle cardigan would be a perfect choice. That way you can wear it outdoors and then remove it easily when indoors. It may not get cold enough for a coat, but surely you could use a sweater at least once in a while.
